I was looking at knitting books the other day at the bookstore. I love to go there and look at the latest issues of all the knitting magazines and to flip through the knitting books for inspiration. I have several beginning knitting books so I really don’t need another one. But I couldn’t help buying this one.

If you aren’t familiar with this series of books, the Teach Yourself Visually books use lots of photos for teaching everything from computer programs to dog training to now Knitting. And there is a lot of step-by-step pictures from casting on, to knitting and purling in both the English and Continental styles.

I especially like the increase and decrease section of this book. Each step in the process is photographed and certain parts are even highlighted like in the Make On increase, the horizontal strand you pick up is very clearly marked.

There are some basic and intermediate knitting projects to get you started.

Teach Yourself Visually Knitting is definitely a great beginners book.
